Project ALDI Inc. Distribution Center and Regional Headquarters–Dinwiddie County, VA

A M King designed and built a 580,732-square-foot Greenfield distribution center and regional headquarters for ALDI Inc. The announcement of the project was a harbinger for economic boom to the Richmond, VA area and a signal of the global grocer’s exponential growth. The facility serves approximately 70-80 ALDI stores in the Richmond-Petersburg, Hampton Roads and eastern North Carolina regions.

A M King provided fully-integrated Design-Build services that included installation of an ammonia refrigeration system, high-density concrete flooring, high-end dock equipment, a Quell fire suppression system and racking for 25,000 pallet positions. Sustainability initiatives include full LED lighting throughout the building and an electrical system installed with a 2,000, 100 percent rated amp service designed for a 1.66k MW peak solar system—which will run the bulk of the refrigeration system and, at times, even part of the building. The Class A office space features Italian marble flooring and walls.
