A M King’s scope of services for this project included installation of a central plant ammonia refrigeration system; high-density concrete flooring; high-end dock equipment that supports 102 dock doors; a Quell fire suppression system; and racking for 25,000 pallet positions. Sustainability initiatives included a 100 percent LED lighting design, which achieved 52 percent more efficient lighting for the interior and 69 percent for the exterior than mandated by the current energy code. A roof-mounted solar array was installed and is capable of delivering a peak of 1.66 Megawatts of energy to offset demand from the utility electrical supply. The facility serves ALDI stores in the Richmond-Petersburg, Hampton Roads and eastern North Carolina regions.
