When ALDI Inc. needed to relieve overcrowding at its corporate headquarters, the company turned to Design-Build expert and long-time partner A M King. The answer was to move the entire IT Department to an existing, 82,000-sf facility in Aurora, IL. The building required total demolition of its interior and a complete buildout that incorporated modern design and technology. A M King managed the design and renovation, which turned the 1980s structure into a fully operational facility – allowing ALDI to introduce a work café, open office spaces and wellness rooms. A M King’s design team collaborated with MEP engineers to raise the existing ceiling height from eight feet to nine feet where possible to provide an open concept. Design efforts also included an energy efficient HVAC design, rooftop units and gas service for improved heat recovery.
