Bakkavor Group, an international supplier of fresh prepared foods based in London, England, commissioned A M King to design and build a new baking facility near its North American headquarters in Charlotte, NC. The new bakery produces ready-to-eat artisan bread products with spices, cheeses and select meat toppings. The multi-phased project included mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, all production area interiors and coordination of equipment installation. A high level of automated food process conveying was created within a sanitary and low-temp environment. Optimal design of the process flow and ergonomics minimized opportunities for cross contamination, while still allowing operational workflow efficiencies. An integrated design process allowed the client to manufacture product ahead of schedule, thereby gaining speed to market.
