Company News A M King Secures Two Prestigious Awards for ALDI’s Regional HQ and Distribution Center

Charlotte, NC—A M King, a fully integrated Design-Build firm, has been recognized with impressive awards from both the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) and ENR Mid-Atlantic for its work on ALDI Inc.’s Regional Headquarters and Distribution Center in Dinwiddie County, VA.
ALDI Inc., a global grocery retailer, commissioned A M King to design and build a 580,732-sqaure-foot greenfield facility serving approximately 80 ALDI stores in the Richmond-Petersburg, Hampton Roads and Eastern North Carolina regions. Project highlights include installation of ammonia refrigeration system; high density concrete flooring; high-end dock equipment; a Quell fire suppression system; racking for 25,000 pallet positions and Italian flooring and walls in the office areas.

DBIA will present A M King with the National Award of Merit at the Design-Build Conference & Expo at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on Nov. 7. A M King is one of three Merit Award winners that will be considered for the National Award of Excellence in the Industrial, Process and/or Research Facilities category. There are 10 categories of Merit winners, including Aviation, Civic/Assembly; Commercial Buildings; Educational Facilities; Federal, State, County, Municipal; Healthcare Facilities; Office Buildings; Rehabilitation, Renovation, and/or Restoration; Transportation; Water/Wastewater.
Shortly after the DBIA announcement, ENR Mid-Atlantic publicized its list of 2019 Award winners, including an Award of Merit in Manufacturing for A M King. ENR will present A M King with the Award at the Regional Best Projects showcase at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor in Baltimore on Nov. 5.
