Our construction management internship program was developed to help construction management and engineering students become future leaders in the AEC industry. Experience mentorship from our design and construction experts, collaborate on real-world projects, travel to new destinations, and grow a strong professional network.

What is Design-Build?

Design-Build is a fully integrated project delivery method that is built on trust, mutual respect, teamwork, innovation and creative problem solving. Our clients sign a single contract for both architectural design services and the physical construction, giving us sole responsibility for the entire project. Our in-house design and construction teams work in a highly collaborative environment, which streamlines the entire process from project conception to completion.

What Makes A M King Different?

A M King is based in Charlotte, NC with offices in Greenville, SC and Batavia, IL. We are committed to providing construction management interns with valuable experiences both in office settings and at jobsites nationwide. A M King’s hourly rate is well above the industry average. We also offer supplemental benefits to our interns, including stipends for relocation, housing, travel, and mileage.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Overview

Work closely with our design and construction management professionals in an inclusive and collaborative environment to develop your skills in project management, explore the latest construction technology, and gain hands-on experience in the field.

Project Management
  • Travel/relocate to jobsites nationwide
  • Manage project documentation and reporting, including drawing and specification logs, RFIs and more
  • Maintain and update project schedule with clients and subcontractors
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project standards
  • Collaborate with design teams to optimize project deliverables
  • Maintain a strong safety culture on all jobsites
  • Build and maintain client relationships
Skill Development and Technology
  • Build your skills in leadership, communication, risk management, time management, problem-solving and more
  • Become proficient in industry-leading software such as Procore, CAD, BIM and Autodesk
Mentorship and Collaboration
  • Work closely with experienced mentors from our design and construction management teams
  • Collaborate daily with architects, engineers, subcontractors and project team
  • Develop strong client relationships and understand what drives project success
Professional Development and Training
  • Take part in comprehensive onboarding process
  • Participate in company-wide training sessions
  • Gain knowledge from industry leaders in monthly Lunch & Learns
  • Immerse yourself in on-the-job training at our jobsites
