Building For The Athletes

Charlotte, N.C. – A M King and Sports Med Properties, LLC. have added two more D1 Sports Training facilities to their partnership program geared toward training local athletes and providing sports medical services. Together the two businesses have established a specific development, design and construction formula for the growth and expansion of D1 Sports Training, a training and medical facility sponsored by professional athletes to promote athletics and overall health and fitness. A M King and Sports Med Properties have teamed on six D1 facilities to date, including the newest two— D1 Carrollton, Texas and D1 Indianapolis and—along with D1 Winston-Salem, D1 Denver, D1 Omaha and D1 Louisville.

Randy Russell, President of Sports Med Properties, LLC., reached out to A M King when he created a commercial expansion plan for D1 Sports Training and needed a design and construction partner. Russell researched multiple design and construction firms to find the best long-term fit and determined A M King, a fully integrated design-build firm, was the perfect match. The two companies have created a niche for athletes to realize dreams and give back to the local community they’re tied to.

The relationship between A M King and Sports Med Properties has streamlined the design and construction process. Randy Russell has worked closely with A M King Project Manager George Lehnerer to create a core standard for these facilities, with various “add-ons” for each athlete to choose from.

D1 Winston Salem was constructed in 2015 with support of current NBA all-star and Winston local, Chris Paul. “The D1 program was the perfect way to thank my community for standing behind me, always propelling me forward to reach my dreams,” said Paul.

D1 Indianapolis opens this summer and will be owned and operated by Indiana Pacers star and Indianapolis native, Jeff Teague. “I want local athletes to have the same opportunities I had,” says Teague. “This was the best way to accomplish that and more.”

A M King and Sports Med Properties are collaborating on more locations, which are in the preliminary stages now. Sports Med Properties, LLC. as a whole, has opened 23 locations for D1 and are currently servicing them in over 50 cities nationwide.
