This cold storage facility not only provides increased capacity for the Mexico-based company but serves as a hub for its U.S. and Canada customers.
GAB Operations, LLC, a leading producer of fresh and frozen vegetables worldwide, partnered with A M King to design and build a distribution center in Laredo, TX. Our team worked with the owner to ensure the layout met current and future needs, including the addition of a forced air cooler to bring down produce temperature quickly and safely. One unique aspect of the project was development of dormitories for company truck drivers, featuring a lounge, shower/toilet area and two exterior doors to help create a single flow through the space. A large open area with high ceilings and manager offices around the perimeter promotes social distancing. The exterior of the warehouse was constructed using Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) while the new office section utilizes an EIFS/Stucco finish and a decorative metal accent panel.
“A M King designed and built an excellent facility for us in Laredo. Because we’ll have storage for an additional two million pounds of frozen produce plus day holding capacity for fresh, we will not have to rely on outside storage and can provide faster delivery and service to our customers.”— Jaime Usabiaga, GAB General Manager / GAB Operations, LLC
